Dr. James Emmett Goode's Obituary
GOODE, JAMES EMMETT M.D. Born to Marquis G. and Nora Maier Goode on January 1, 1925 in Greenville, TX. His family moved to Dallas where he graduated from Highland Park High School. He attended U.T. in Austin and Tulane Medical School, N.D.. Predeceased by daughter, Robin Lucille Nugent. Survived by wife of 61 years Nancy Robertson Goode; daughter, Linda Goode of Pottsboro, TX and son, James O. Goode of Sherman, TX; grandchildren, James E. Goode of Carthage, TX, Taja Megan Goode of Sherman; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Lucille Goode, Jr.; two nephews, Mark III and Scott Goode and their wives; and seven grand nephews. He interned at Scott and White in Temple, TX, served two years in the U.S. Navy at Jacksonville, FL and Quantico, VA, then returned to Texas for residency training at V.A. Hospital in McKinney, TX. Starting his practice in Oak cliff in 1954, in 1959 he shared an office building with Drs. Haley, Portman, and Ogle. He was a member of DCMS, Dallas Club of Internists, Dallas Academy of Internal Medicine, AMA, and Texas Club of Internists. He served a year as Chief of Staff at Methodist Hospital and a year as Chief of Internal Medicine. He retired in 1991 to pursue hobbies of tennis, photography, golf, gardening, carpentry, and computers. He will be greatly missed by family and friends and remembered as a quiet, witty, loving, and caring man. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM Thursday, March 15, 2007 at Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution to charity of your choice would be appreciated.
