James Grady Hix's Obituary
James Grady Hix passed away on July 1, 2018, in Plano, TX after a brief illness. He was born in Fayetteville, AR on October 9, 1929, to John Grady Hix and Myrtis Sealy Hix. Jim grew up in New Orleans, LA and New Iberia, LA. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and proudly served until October 1952. His military career served him well as he later became an accomplished sales executive with Univac and Nortel Communications. He is preceded in death by his son, Clifford Hix. Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley; 3 children, Michael Hix, Terry Hix and Myrtis Cogdill; 4 stepchildren, Denise Fredette, Scott, Greg and Glen Michaels; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving father, devout Christian and caring mentor and friend to so many. His primary message to his family and friends was to live a God-centered life and he led by example. Jim will be deeply missed.The family request that visiting hours be observed at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday July 6, 2018. A funeral service for James Grady Hix will be held at 11:00 am Saturday July 7, 2018 at the Restland Memorial Chapel.
