James Ashley Greenhaw's Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James Ashley Greenhaw, age 67.
His battle with lung cancer came to an end on the night of February 2nd, 2023 while he was surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born to James Albert and Bobby Jo Greenhaw on January 21st, 1956 and grew up
in Terrell, Texas. He learned to love the Lord and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Terrell. He played football at Terrell High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1974. He then attended the University of Texas at Arlington, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He soon after began his career as an insurance adjuster in property claims.
His occupation led to his employment at several insurance companies, but his proudest career
achievement was his tenure as part owner of Property Claims Services. Jim conducted his business
impeccably. He grew a reliable network of grateful customers and volunteered to adjust claims for
areas affected by natural disasters, notably including Hurricane Katrina. His hard work provided his
family with an idyllic life.
Jim married Debby after they met through a mutual friend, and they went on to have their only son
James Scott. Jim was a model husband and father, as well as a fantastic father-in-law to Bingbing
Zhang Greenhaw and grandfather “Daddy Jim” to James Thomas Greenhaw.
His quiet and thoughtful manner framed an incredible sense of wit and humor that he used to delight and entertain his friends, coworkers, and family members. His love of dogs was prominent throughout his life, and he sheltered several companions including Buck, Jet, Tank, Teddy and many more. He enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and golfing as well as traveling across the United States, Hawaii and Mexico on yearly family vacations.
Jim is survived by his wife Debby Greenhaw; son James Scott Greenhaw; daughter-in-law Bingbing
Zhang Greenhaw; grandson James Thomas Greenhaw; sister Judy Dodson; brother-in-law Barry
Dodson; and niece Hayley Jones.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, James Albert Greenhaw; mother Bobby Jo Greenhaw; sister
Debbie Greenhaw Bunch; and nephew “Tad” Thomas Ashley Dodson.
