James Melvin Hazlett's Obituary
James Hazlett was born on March 14, 1954 in Covington, KY and passed away on October 14, 2014 in Plano, Texas. James is preceded in death by his parents, James R. And June Hazlett. James is survived by his wife, Theresa Hazlett; step-son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Jennessa Moore, granddaughter, Laurel Margurette Moore, brother and sister-in-law, Sid and Irene Hyatt; brother and sister-in-law, Rob and Cindy Hazlett; nieces Tracy Hazlett and Chris Morgan, nephews Robbie Hazlett and Tony Hyatt, seven great nieces and nephews – John Richard, Jacob, Joseph, Molly, Jackson, Dontay, and Nalia, and an abundance of loving, caring friends and co-workers. Jim graduated from Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky in 1972, where he was a member of the award-winning Holmes High School Marching Band, under the direction of the renowned Mr. James Copenhaver. After graduating from high school, Jim attended Eastern Kentucky University and graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 1976 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. When Jim was not working as a manager at ACE Cash Express Corporate Offices in Irving, Texas, where he had worked for over 10 years, you would find him reading, listening to music, or watching a movie from his vast collection. Theresa and Jim have three cats. Jim’s favorite was Callie, a five year old calico. Jim once said “I don’t know what I will do if anything ever happens to Callie.” Right now, Callie doesn’t know what to do without her Daddy, and has been looking around the house for him. Fortunately, she was able to visit him while he was in the hospital. A Memorial Eucharist for James will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1:00 PM at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 421 Custer Road, Richardson, Texas, The Canon Rev. Rob Smith and The Rev. Bill Cavanaugh, presiding priests. A reception for the family and friends will be held immediately after the Eucharist. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
