Mr James Duchaine Henry's Obituary
James (Jim) Duchaine Henry, 75, passed away early Christmas morning on Sunday, December 25, 2022. He was born September 10, 1947, to the late Lyle and Eleanor (Duchaine) Henry and was the youngest of five children. He grew up in Ajo, Arizona and graduated from Ajo High School in 1964. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Arizona State University.
After college, Jim left his small hometown and relocated to Dallas to pursue his career in the business world. Jim was hardworking, intelligent, and a motivated man who had a successful career that afforded him opportunities to travel and see the world.
In 1971, Jim married his beautiful wife of 51 years, Jan Claire McNair. Jim loved nature and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and cooking. In 1985, he moved his family to Argyle, TX where they enjoyed country life together for nearly 35 years.
Jim was a kind, patient, gentle, and gregarious soul. He loved life. He was always grateful for the times spent with his family, which brought him immense joy. He devoted himself to his family and genuinely cared for the people around him. He was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life.
Jim endured many health issues and retired early in 2016 to stay home and care for his wife full-time. Despite the challenges, he would always say “his most important job in life was caring for his beloved wife.” Throughout this journey, he never lost his sense of humor, was always cracking jokes and had a great ability to make others smile.
Jim was a loving husband, dedicated father, grandfather, and friend. He always remained positive in the face of adversity and looked at the brighter things in life. Whether through his great sense of humor, his intelligent conversation or just his basic kindness, he touched the lives of so many people and will truly be missed and will never be forgotten.
Jim is survived by his two children: son Jeffrey Henry and his wife Elizabeth, his daughter, Julie Gravley, and her husband Robert, three grandchildren, Morgan Lanham and her husband Jarod, Leah and Lauren Gravley as well as two great grandchildren, Everette, and McCoy. His brother David Henry, brother-in-law, John McNair, and his wife Janis; along with several nieces and nephews.
