James Hudson Hill's Obituary
Longtime Dallas dentist, James H. Hill, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 12, 2014 with his family at his side. Born in Bellville TX December 4, 1928 to W.I and Tillie (Koy) Hill. James is survived by his beloved wife Bettie of 60 yrs, sons Brad his wife Laura, son Bart and 4 grandchildren Krista, Kiley, Samantha and Hunter. James grew up in Sealy, TX where he graduated from high school and went on to attend Baylor University where he received his B.S degree in 1951. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S Army where he served his country honorably in the Korean War from 1951-1953. After his military service James enrolled back to Baylor University where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. In 1960 he set up his practice serving the Lake Highland and surrounding communities faithfully, taking care of his patients until his retirement in November 2013 at age 84. In 1989 James and his wife Bettie jump started a peer assistance program for area dentists/doctors and other professionals who struggled with alcohol/drug dependacy. They have both been accredited for helping countless dentists/doctors over the years. The Dallas County Dental Society recognized Dr. Hill as “Dentist of the Year” in 1990 and in 2005 he was awarded with the “Lifetime Achievement Award”. In 2011 the Texas Dental Association awarded him for his tireless involvement and dedication to the peer assistance and recovery for Texas dentists. Dr. Hill was known to his colleagues, patients and friends as a very compassionate and charitable dentist who often times would perform his services pro-bona for those who had fallen on hard times. James’ family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service for James will take place at 2:30 pm on Friday, December 19, 2014 at The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
