Mr. James Frank Howell's Obituary
James Frank Howell, Jr., a resident of Dallas, passed away August 5, 2022 at the age of 86. He was born January 12, 1936 to James Frank Howell, Sr and Lela Faye (James) Howell in Florence, Texas. Frank served in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Jan Hemphill on June 9, 1978 in Dallas, Texas. Frank received his Bachelor of Science in Education at Southwest Texas State Teachers College on January 26, 1958 and a Master of Liberal Arts at Southern Methodist University on August 14, 1974. He was a Certified Shorthand Reporter with the Supreme Court of the State of Texas on April 15, 1978 and he was the last Shorthand Court Reporter in the State of Texas. Frank enjoyed playing the piano, cooking and gardening but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margie (Howell) Black.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Jan (Hemphill) Howell; two sisters, GeorgeAnn Domel and Suzan Kay McMurtray and her husband, Charles; three nieces, Angela Marie Pratt, Marjorie Darlene Cosper and April Allison Crafts; sister-in-law, Nancy St. Amand; and his companion, Drew (his Scottish Terrier).
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Restland Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
