James "Jim" H. Ball II's Obituary
Always the faithful servant, loving and generous, James (Jim) Henry Ball II, 79, of Richardson,TX passed away at home with his family beside him on December 1, 2023.
Jim was born Jan. 30,1944 at Brooks Medical Center at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX to Lt. Col. (Retired) William Robert Ball and Margaret (Owens) Ball. The family then moved to Dallas where Jim attended and graduated from Highland Park High School, Kilgore College and Texas Tech University.
Jim worked for the Texas Credit Union League and then for GEXPRO until his retirement where he made many lifelong friends.
He was a true Texan. People always enjoyed his natural wittiness and fun character. He shared to all that he spoke two languages: English and “Texan”. He loved to fish, play card games, and continually brag about his Texas Tech Red Raiders. He would teach any skills he knew to his children and could talk about anything pertaining to history.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, William (Bill) R. Ball. Bill entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Oct.31, 2023, and in our hearts, we know that they are fishing together for the largest catfish that can be caught.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara Alves Ball, son, James (Trey) H. Ball III, and daughter, Laura Haley Ball-White (Jason), and his brother, Larry Ball, (Theresa).
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Operation Kindness, (He loved all of his fur babies.), St. Jude’s Hospital, (Jim always admired Danny Thomas for what he established for children battling cancer.), or the charity of your choice.
Jim’s Celebration of Life will take place this upcoming Friday, Dec.15th, at 3 pm, Restland Funeral Home in the Wildwood Chapel.
