Mr. James Rives Jones' Obituary
James Rives Jones of Plano, TX, died peacefully in his sleep on June 1, 2007, of cancer. Jim was born June 24, 1942, to James H. and Sara Rives Jones, who predecease him. Jim enjoyed a career in classical music that spanned more than 35 years. He served as head of Orchestral Activities at SMU and was later appointed Resident Conductor of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, with whom he performed more than 400 concerts over 12 seasons. Jim was given the gift of sobriety on January 12, 1984 and was grateful to be a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Jim is survived by son James Rives Jones II, wife Svetla Rousseva and grandson Christian Roussev Jones of Metuchen, NJ; sons Rico & Jacoby Jones, and daughters Marissa & Ayana Jones, of Plano. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 4, 2007 at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. Visitation is Sunday, June 3rd, from 6:00 ‘ 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
