James Walter Kerr's Obituary
84, died at home September 10, 2008. Born in Lakewood, OH, he spent most of his youth in Bucyrus, OH. He served as a navigator in the 8th US Army Air Corps during WWII, stationed in England and was a 1948 graduate of Ohio State University in Mechanical Engineering. He enjoyed a 38 year career as a petroleum engineer which led him from Dhahran, Saudi Arabia to Trinidad, New Orleans, Cameroon and finally to Dallas where he retired from Mobil Oil in 1986. While in Arabia he met a fellow Ohioan and Aramco employee, Pauline Malone, They were married in 1950 at the Cairo Presbyterian Mission. Jim was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and a Legion of Honor member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He is survived by his wife Pauline; his sisters, Virginia Kerr and Betty Burke of Ohio; daughters, Diana Osborn of Portland, OR, Robin Burnette of Metaire, LA and Amy Nezat of Richardson; his son, James Kerr of Thousand Oaks, CA; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Memorial services will be held at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church on Monday, September 15th at 1:00 pm.
