James Stuart Lenington's Obituary
LENINGTON, JAMES STUART Born April 5, 1922 in Dallas, Texas and passed away October 30, 2011 in Garland, Texas. Preceded in death by Father: Stuart Shays Lenington, Mother: Mabel Merrill McLaughlin Lenington, Brother: Donald Earl Lenington. Survived by wife Lura Arlene Lenington nee Barnes of Sedan, Kansas and Six Children. (1) Michael James Lenington and wife Vibeke of Garland, Texas, (2) Cynthia Arlene Kirby of Wiley, Texas, (3) Jo Ann Thompson of Grand Prairie, Texas, (4) David Scott and wife Rebecca of Chicago, Illinois, (5) Kimberly Bernice Oberdieck and husband Ralph of Phoenix, Arizona, (6) Matthew Kyle Lenington and wife Edith of Saginaw, Texas, twelve Grand Children, and nine Great Grand Children. Jim joined the Army Air Corps following the Attach on Pearl Harbor and was stationed at Perrin Field in Sherman, Texas. He was stationed in Kansas, Oklahoma and Boca Raton, Florida. He was sent to RAF Lakenheath, England where he worked on Bombers. Following WWII he re-enlisted and was transferred to Fairbanks, Alaska, Boise, Idaho and then to Fairfield, California with the 71st Bomber Squadron. He then was stationed in El Paso, Texas and then to Aquadilla, Puerto Rico with the 5th Air Force. After Puerto Rico he was stationed in Glascow, Montana where he retired from the US Air Force. Following retirement from the USAF, he was employed by Braniff, Airlines as a mechanic. The list of military aircraft he worked on is quite extensive. The B24, B25, B26, B29, B47, B52 and U2 were some of his major responsibilities. He was a member of the Highlands Christian Church. Family will receive friends on November 3, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 11:30 am at Restland Abbey followed by burial at DFW National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
