James K Martin's Obituary
Commander James K. Martin (US Navy, Ret.) passed away peacefully on the morning of July 26, 2023, at the age of 94.
Commander Martin was born in Cleburne, TX on February 8, 1929 and attended the University of Texas in 1953, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. After his graduation from the University of Texas, he joined the US Navy and earned the rank of Commander in 1967. He received his diploma as a graduate of the College of Naval Warfare from the US Naval War College in 1973.
His career in the US Navy spanned more than twenty-three years, during which time he was awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal with Gold Star, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the China Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After his retirement from the US Navy, Commander Martin enjoyed a successful career in banking as a competent and compassionate loan officer. He enjoyed camping, constructing model train sets, creating home videos, and above all, spending time with his beloved family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary-Ann Martin; his son Christopher Martin and daughter-in-law Genevieve Martin; and his three grandchildren, James Martin, Jerald Martin, and Mary-Ann Martin.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Restland Memorial Park.
