James Harris McKeown's Obituary
James “Jim” Harris McKeown, 75, of Garland, Texas, passed away at his home on February 28, 2018. Born on March 13, 1942, in Dardanelle, Arkansas to Walter Frank and Edna Estelle (Cowger) McKeown. Jim was the youngest of three. Before starting his family, he attended Arkansas Tech and was an Air Force Veteran. Jim was a great provider and worked for many years for well respected companies such as Texas Instruments and Verizon. He was a proud father and a generous, loving, and sensitive man. He was loved by all his family and touched the lives of so many people, who always smile when they think or speak of his quirky personality, and the sweet things he did for others. In his retirement years Jim spent his time doing the things he loved like working on all sorts of projects at home, cooking “original creations,” and hanging out with his family and pets. Jim struggled with health issues in his latter years, but was able to remain independent and live at home. He was very much loved and will be greatly missed. Jim is survived by his three children from his first marriage to Patricia Melton: daughter, Nancy Pirtle and her husband Steve of Melissa, Texas; daughter, Nicole Lott and her husband Bracy of Forney, Texas; and son, Patrick McKeown and his wife Julie of Wylie, Texas. He is also survived by his five loving step-children from his late wife, Ursula McKeown, who passed away in November 2016: daughter, Susie Moore and husband Tim of Garland, Texas; son, Jimmy Davis and Robin Davis of Allen, Texas; daughter, Carlette Snyder of Garland, Texas; daughter, Gina McCarthy of Garland, Texas; and son, David Moran and wife Brittney of Garland, Texas. He is also survived by 15 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren and his siblings, brother Frankie McKeown and sister, Elizabeth Ann Staton, and many other loving friends and family.The family requests visitation on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service for Mr. McKeown will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Wildwood Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243, (972-238-7111).
