James McGrady McLean Jr.'s Obituary
James McGrady McLean Jr. passed away August 6, 2018. He was born June 9, 1930, in Ft. Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. James M. McLean and Virginia Adams McLean, and sisters, Mima Virginia McLean and Beulah Mae McLean Elder. He is survived by his loving wife, Beth, of 61 years, his daughters, Phyllis Robertson and husband, Ken, of Grapevine, TX, Ginna Dowell and husband, Barry, of Rowlett, TX, grandchildren Sarah Tucker and husband, Tony, of Marshall, TX, Kerrick Robertson and wife, Alyssa, of Dallas, Keanan Dowell of Longview, TX, and Danielle Dowell of New York City, NY, great-grandchildren Camille Robertson, Avery Robertson, Eli Tucker and Jack Tucker. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Jack H. McLean and wife, Linda, of Covington, LA. After graduation from Kilgore High School, Jim graduated from Austin College in Sherman, TX. He also served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea and Okinawa.Jim and Beth are both charter members of St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church in Richardson. Jim was very active in this church, singing in the choir, serving as an elder and deacon, and serving on the Board of Trustees and two building committees.Jim was active with Network of Community Ministries where he was an interviewer and daily coordinator while also serving 3 years on the board of directors. He was also a volunteer with the Charles w. Eisemann Performance Center and attended the Richardson Citizens Police Academy and the Richardson Citizens Academy.Jim worked for Collins Radio, which later became Rockwell International, for 38 years where he was a contract manager. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed watching all sports.The family will receive friends at Restland Funeral Home on Friday, August 10 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, August 11 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church in Richardson, TX.In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to: Saint Barnabas Church music department or Network of Community Ministries.
