James Paul Middleton's Obituary
James Paul Middleton, 85, was born on August 7, 1935 in Lubbock, Texas. He went home to be with his Lord on January 8, 2021. He attended Lubbock High School, where he was a member of the Westerners football team. The Westerners would win back to back 4A state championships in 1951 and 1952. He later attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, where he met and married the love of his life, Sue Buchanan on August 17, 1957. James loved people and could talk to anyone. This quality served him well as a salesman for various companies. He could sell just about anything to just about anyone. He believed in hard work tempered by good fun. He was involved in church life, served as a deacon and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Plano. He was a volunteer and leader in everything from Indian Guides (where he was known as "Big Goose") to Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He has been a resident of Plano, Texas since 1974. James was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by Sue Middleton, his wife of 63 years, his sons Roger (Gayle) and Steve (Cathy) Middleton, his grandson Andy (Kaitlyn) Middleton, granddaughters Rachel Middleton Barandella (Jeremy) and Sara Middleton. He is further survived by brother Roy Middleton of Lubbock and Carol Middleton Dallas of Austin.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh and Pauline Middleton and his brother Tommy Middleton.
