A Tribute to the Life of James Garfield MooreBut the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.Galatians 5:22-23 – English Standard VersionJames Garfield Moore was born on November 21, 1943, in Austin, Texas to Theodore Roosevelt Moore and Burma Lee Garland. He was raised by his grandmother, Eugenia Garland, in DeKalb, Texas. After the death of his beloved grandmother, his beloved aunt, Mable T. Garland, continued to guide him during his young adult years. He attended DeKalb schools and later obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas College. After graduating from Texas College, James proudly served in the United States Army. Upon completion of his military service, James began his career with the Texas Employment Commission (now Texas Workforce Commission) in Dallas, Texas, where he served in multiple positions, including Veterans Employment Counselor, Job Ready Counselor, and Unemployment Claims Taker/Investigator. While working at Texas Workforce Commission, James met and married Lue Nettie Lee, also a Texas Workforce Commission employee. After retiring from the Texas Workforce Commission with over 30 years of service, James embarked on a new career with REACH of Dallas, Texas, where he provided employment consulting and administrative support to serve countless individuals with disabilities for 17 years. James passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 18, 2019.James was a devout Christian who loved God and exemplified the character, conduct, and conversation of Jesus Christ. As a servant leader in his home and community, he demonstrated the fruit of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. He loved reading his Bible, praying for others, hosting and cooking delicious meals for family and friends, sharing his delectable recipes, and caring for his beloved pets. He also enjoyed landscaping, listening to classical and jazz music, watching HGTV, and watching the Dallas Cowboys, especially when they won! One of his greatest joys was attending Sunday worship service at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church, where he was a faithful member for over 40 years.Known especially for his kind, humble, and generous spirit, James was a blessing to all who knew him. He served and encouraged others with unconditional love and a selfless spirit. James impacted countless lives for the better and he will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He will forever be in our hearts.James was preceded in death by: his parents, his grandmother, his brother, Billy Joe Moore, his beloved aunt, Mable T. Garland, his beloved uncle and aunt, Wilson and Lady C. Brooks, and his beloved uncles, James Garland and R.L. Garland. He is survived by: his wife, Lue Nettie Moore, sister-in-law Janis Lacy (Archie), sister-in-law Paula Johnson, brother-in-law Carlos Lee (Sheila), brother-in-law Charles Lee, Jr., sister-in-law Charlotte Lee, sister-in-law Eva Lee, beloved family friend, Renette Black, beloved dog, Morgan, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.Special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Richardson Methodist Hospital, Vibra Hospital, Prairie Estates, Visiting Angels Home Health, and T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center. Visitation for Mr. James G. Moore will be held Friday, March 22, 2019, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home Memorial Chapel located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243. His funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church located at 11881 Schroeder Road, Dallas, Texas 75243. Burial at DFW National Cemetery Wednesday March 27, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
