James Lyle Nygaard's Obituary
James Lyle Nygaard passed away on July 3rd, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He was born June 30th, 1927 in Danevang, TX to Walter and Anna Dell Nygaard. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son James Lyle Nygaard, Jr. and brother Bill Presley. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Nygaard, his children, Lisa Wallace and husband Bruce Wallace of Carrollton, TX., Nancy Witt of Richardson, Susette Nygaard of Dallas, TX., David Nygaard of Plano and Jennifer Haus and husband Chuck Haus of Hot Springs, AR., 5 grandchildren , and 2 great-granchildren, sister-in-law Liz Presley, and several nieces and nephews. He graduated from North Dallas High in 1944. After enlisting in the Navy, he served four years in Dive Bomber Squadron Air Group 15. He was in the Advanced Airborne Electronics School and served aboard aircraft carriers. After leaving the Navy he attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 1954 with a degree in electrical engineering. He joined Texas Instruments the same month in the semi-conductor division. He worked with a group that designed the first transistor radio and remained with T.I. until he retired thirty years later. He served on the Board of Directors for Richardson Medical Center for several years and on the Board of Electrical Engineering at Texas A@M for four years. He enjoyed fly fishing and radio controlled model airplanes. He also loved picking his banjo with a group of friends who formed a small band. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 6th at 12:30pm at Restland Memorial Park, Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville, Ave., Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Network of Community Ministries, 741 Sherman St., Richardson, TX, or a charity of choice.
