James O'Quinn Jr.'s Obituary
James Willis Columbus O’Quinn Jr. (called mostly by the name “J.W.” or “Jimmy”). Born on June 16, 1926, in Carthage, TX and passed away February 11, 2016 in San Angelo, TX by a sudden heart attack on the courthouse steps in San Angelo where he was visiting. He died alone without family around. He resided in Mesquite, TX since 1961. Preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Pearl O’Quinn in May 1995 and his youngest daughter, Tina Renee’ Turner in May 1997. Survived by his daughters, Linda, husband Eddie Kasper of Fort Worth, Judy, husband Gary Matthews of Dallas, and Thelma, and husband Earl Pitt of Kaufman. Also 12 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren and two brothers Billy and Donald O’Quinn and their families. James served in the U.S. Navy between 1944-1945. He worked for LTV in Greenville, TX for about 25 years. He then went to work for Lowery. Later he and his wife Minnie decided to go into business and became an Entrepreneur, owning a music shop of organs and pianos. He and his wife, Minnie named their business the Keyboard Shop in Mesquite. They later closed the business, James decided to service organs at various locations in Dallas and surrounding areas, and then he eventually retired. Family will receive friends on 02/14/16 from 11 AM – 5 PM at main building at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. Service will be held on 02/16/16, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Chapel at same location. There will be a 2-minute opportunity for anyone who would like to stand up and speak about fond memories of James O’Quinn at the funeral. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
