James B. Osier Sr.'s Obituary
Jim was born on June 8, 1943, in Oneida, New York, to J. Donald and Jane E. Osier, the oldest of 4 children. He grew up in Sherrill, NY, and was a 1961 graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill (VVS) Central High School. In Sept. of 1961 he enlisted in the USAF and completed an 11 week systems course for the Mace B missile in Denver, CO, and was then stationed at Beale AFB, CA, for the next 3-1/2 years. While at Beale he met and married his wife, Karen. Upon completion of his tour in the USAF they relocated to Sherrill. NY, where their son was born. After a short stay in NY they moved to Dallas where he lived for the remainder of his life. While living in Dallas his daughter Sherry was born, and he worked at Texas Instruments as a Test and Calibration Technician, and later started his own company, Central Instrument Laboratory, with his good friend and partner, Paul Taylor. Jim left the partnership in 2000 and went to work for Raytheon, where he retired in 2009. During his life in Dallas Jim enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys, while always keeping up with the NY Yankees. He enjoyed golf when he had the opportunity to play, and when that wasn't possible he liked watching the PGA tour on TV. Over the years he enjoyed playing tennis at Chapel Downs and bowling with his wife and daughter on several leagues, and taking short trips with Bowling friends for tournaments in and out of town. Jim will be missed by his family and friends, and his "Fur Babies" that are missing him, too. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, J. Donald Osier and Jane E. Osier, and his younger brother, Charles (Chuck) Osier. He is survived by wife Karen, Beloved Daughter Sherry, son James, brother George & wife Sue, sister Jeanne Cahill, Sister-in-Law Donna Osier, Cousin Pat Ottaway & husband Bruce, and several nieces and nephews.
