James Arthur Parkhurst Jr.'s Obituary
James Parkhurst, a man of wide-ranging interests and a generous spirit, was born in Orange, Texas, and spent much of his life rooted in community and curiosity.
James was a long-term resident of Richardson, Texas, where many came to know him as a familiar, steady presence—someone who showed up, lent support, and quietly cared. Later in life, he followed a different calling and homesteaded in Lindell, Texas, embracing a simpler rhythm while continuing to surround himself with the things that brought him joy.
A true collector at heart, James had an eye for everything—from old cars and fine china to small trinkets that told stories only he fully knew. His interests were as varied as his collections, reflecting a deep appreciation for history, craftsmanship, and the beauty found in everyday objects. If something caught his attention, he wanted to understand it, preserve it, and make space for it.
Neighbors and friends remember James most for his consistency and kindness. He was the kind of person who showed up—whether to support others, lend a hand, or simply be present when it mattered. His quiet reliability left a lasting impression on those around him.
James is survived by two living siblings: one sister Nancy L. Johnston and one brother John Robert Parkhurst, and nephew: Daniel O. Smith Jr., who carry forward his memory and the many stories that defined his life.
He will be remembered for his curiosity, his steadfast support of others, and the life he built piece by piece—much like the collections he so lovingly gathered.
James final Resting place will be at DFW national cemetery in Dallas Tx.
