James Milton Plunk Jr.'s Obituary
James Milton Plunk Jr. of Rockwall, Texas passed away Jan. 7, 2012. Jim as he was known was one of 10 children, born in Emory, Texas September 18, 1920 to Minnie & James M. Plunk, Sr.. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. Jim is survived by his wife Colleen; their sons, Larry and wife Judy, Michael and wife Carol, Kenneth and wife Jean; brother, Don Plunk and sister, Betty Higgins; multiple grandchildren, great grand children, nieces, nephews, and extended family. James served in the Civilian Conservation Corp during the great depression, and then joined the National Guard becoming a part of the 112th Calvary. He served in WWII as Tech. Sgt. for 39 months in the South Pacific. Jim, discharged in 1945, received the bronze star and other metals of honor. A few months after discharge, he met Colleen, his wife of 65 yrs. He was employed as a Funeral Director at Brewer Funeral Home in Dallas. He and his wife settled down in the White Rock Area of Dallas and became members of Lakeside Baptist Church where he served as Boy Scout Master, Deacon, and Greeter. Jim joined the post office service in 1957 and said it was the best job he ever had. In 1967, after surviving a cardiac arrest, he and his wife felt the need to serve together and created the Alpha Couples Class at their church.Jim was a compassionate man of great character and loved his lord, church, family and friends.
