James Bruce Scott's Obituary
James Bruce Scott, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2010. He was born on June 20, 1921 to Charles Goble and Ruby Beatrice Scott in Leedey, Oklahoma. Bruce was the older of two children. Bruce is survived by sons: James Scott and his wife, Kim, of Euless, Texas; Joe Scott and his wife, Vicki, of Shady Shores, Texas; four grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Carr and Catherine Sprague of Nowata, Oklahoma; brother-in-law: Charles Lamb of Wichita, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Vina on Monday, August 23, 2010. They were married in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 5, 1947. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage. They lived in Oklahoma; Wichita, Kansas, and moved to Irving, Texas in 1964 and lived there until moving to the Denton area in February, 2007. Bruce was a Mason and an active member of the Lodge in Irving. He was a Mess Sergeant in the Army Air Corps from November 18, 1942 until his release on June 14, 1947. Bruce worked for the US Post Office and retired when he was in his 50’s, and then went to work for JC Penney for ten years. Bruce enjoyed raising horses. Bruce, Vina, and Joe rode in the Grand Entry in many rodeos in the area. He also loved to fish and own several different boats. He never went anywhere without his hat on. After Bruce’s retirement, you could always find him in the garage or the yard tinkering on something. He and Vina enjoyed driving to Nowata, Oklahoma to spend time with her sister, Elizabeth, and her brother, Charley, and family. It might take them all day because they liked to stop many times along the way always picking up something to bring back home.
