James Kenneth Spinden's Obituary
Jim transitioned from this life to his eternal life at 5:07 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, Texas. He was diagnosed with a rare degenerative brain disease called Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). He went peacefully and was surrounded by his family when he took his last earthly breath.
Surviving Jim are his wife Beverly, his sons Brannon and Nicholas, two daughters-in-law Ana and Wynn, two beautiful grandchildren Aria Grace & James Alexander, Mother Juanita Hill, two loving sisters, Pam Wain and Tina Stamps, Mother-in-law Pat Saied, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Jim in death was his father Jim Spinden, Stepfather Melton Hill, and Father-in-law, George Saied.
Jim was a loving husband, an excellent father and Gidi (grandfather). He loved deep and loved his family well. When Jim wasn’t spending time with his family, working or in church you can rest assured you’d find him at the golf course.
A few of Jim’s MANY qualities were his quiet strength, his humble spirt, his skill on the grill and his ability to fix ANYTHING around the house. He was the handiest of all handymen. From changing a light bulb, installing a sprinkler system, building a deck, remodeling his home, and just about any home repair/home improvement project; Jim was able to do it… and did.
Jim served as a Deacon and Greeter at Prestonwood Baptist Church and counted it a privilege to do so. He loved his church, and he loved The Lord.
Jim started his own construction business in Perryton, Texas specializing in carpentry. An opportunity presented itself in Dallas and he moved his family from Perryton to Dallas in 2000 where he accepted a job with the Beck Group. Jim worked for Beck through November of 2020. Another opportunity presented itself from a wonderful company in February of 2021. Realizing he was not ready to retire, he signed on with Moss where he worked up to the time of his passing.
Jim’s immediate family would like to share that although walking through this trial has been difficult; it is important to know that God walked along side us every step of the way. He has given us strength where we were weak and has shown us so many blessings and silver-linings throughout this journey. He has guided us through countless decisions that had to be made under dreadful circumstances. Glory to God who is and has been OUR EVER-PRESENT HELP in time of trouble.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Prestonwood Baptist Church located at 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, Texas 75093, service will begin at 2:00 pm
Funeral arrangements for Jim have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243 and can be reached at 972-238-7111.
