James Newton Stringer's Obituary
James “Jim” Newton Stringer, 89, passed away September 9, 2014. Born in Cleburne, Texas September 7, 1925 to Preston and Lois Stringer. Proceeded in death by his wife Ruth Stringer, daughter Mollie Stringer, and granddaughter Aimee Bishop. Survived by son Peter and wife Sheridan Stringer, grandchildren McCallan, Daniel and Luke Stringer and great grandchildren Ethan and Scarlet Bishop. Jim attended Paschal HS, Ft. Worth, TX and at age 17 enlisted in the US Navy serving from 1943-46 on Johnston Island in the Pacific. He attended TCU and UNT studying Music and Industrial Education. He met and married Ruth while teaching in Wichita Falls. A salesman for most of his career, Jim and Ruth left Texas and moved their family to Pueblo, CO in 1963. His greatest passion was music and leading others in song. Jim was a devoted Christian and made friends with everyone he met. He moved to Dallas in 2004. Jim was an active member of Park Cities Baptist Church where he cherished the friendships from his Sunday school class. A memorial service for James will be held in Pueblo, CO at a later date. Donations may be made in Jim’s honor to PCBC Missions at 3933 Northwest Parkway, Dallas, TX 75225. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75238.
