JAMES JOSEPH SZILAGYI
(1936-2023)
James Joseph Szilagyi, "Jim", also known as "Big Jim" was the youngest of 9 children born to Joseph Szilagyi and Julia Bodnar on February 8, 1936. Jim was born in Dayton, Ohio where he lived with his parents on a farm. Jim’s father died when he was 13 leaving much of the work attending to dairy cows and farmland to him and his mother. Jim remained in the Dayton area until moving to Dallas, Texas with Texas Instruments in 1972. Jim was an engineer with TI until retiring in 1999.
Jim and his wife, Linda Szilagyi, have resided in Frisco, TX since '2003. Jim has 3 sons, Jeffrey Szilagyi from Reno, Nevada and 2 sons, Trey and Daniel (wife, Ivette) Bowlin from Houston, TX, 2 grandsons, Brandon and Bradley Bowlin, also from Houston.
Jim's sisters-in-law, Helene Szilagyi, remains in Dayton, Ohio, with Debbie Graves, in Waskom, TX and Barbara Simmons, in Denham Springs, LA. Jim also has many nieces and nephews.
He loved the family gatherings when he went back to Dayton. Jim would tell you he didn’t like attention but was so very happy to tell everyone stories about his life. He loved to fly and owned a couple of planes in his lifetime. He would often say that he felt peace and calmness in flying. On Saturday, April 15, 2023, he took his eternal flight and is now flying high.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife, Linda, and their little dog, Schaffer, but they know they will see him again.
