James Terry Talley's Obituary
Col (RET) James Terry Talley, age 79, passed away Monday May 2, 2022, in Plano, Texas. He was born to James Ewing Talley and Bertha Margaret Coates on Friday July 3, 1942, in Seguin, Texas. He married Geraldine (Gerri) L. Talley on July 24th, 1975. “Terry” was a devoted family man: son (bubba), brother, uncle, husband and father. He was a bigger than life father to Todd & Shelby, Scott & Alexa and Papa to Gavin, Jaden & Grayson Talley. He leaves family (and friends) with unforgettable memories and loving stories. Terry was a true jokester that kept EVERYONE on their toes to the very end. He had a grin that said everything and could put a smile on everyone’s face.
Col (RET) James Terry Talley earned his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State, along with all his ROTC designations and awards. He passionately served his country, as a fighter pilot, in the United States Air Force from July 1964 to March 1989. Terry was a true patriot and pilot that did what he loved –soaring high all over this world – ensuring that we were safe. We are certain he is again in the cockpit of a fighter jet aiming high, protecting his country, and loving his family.
Terry is survived by his sons: Todd and Shelby Talley, and their sons Gavin and Jaden, and Scott and Alexa Talley, and their son, Grayson; his beloved sister Kay Ohrt (Dean) and nephews Jeff Colwell (and family) and Joel Colwell (and family). Terry was proceeded in death by his lovely wife Gerri Talley, his parents, brother, in-laws and his grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in the name of Col (RET) James T Talley to the following organizations: Parkinson’s Foundation, Local Veterans Foundation, Vietnam Veterans Foundation or Alzheimer’s Association.
