please accept our sincere condolences and prayers. Grandmaster Toney was a true gentleman, and an inspiration.
Mr. Toney was a great mentor and a good friend. I could count on his good advice. He often asked me "How's the striper fishin on Texoma?" My wife and I will miss him dearly – but he will always be in our hearts. Sam & Alicea Perez Denison, Texas
I knew Jim or Toney as everyone called him thru his wife Connie when Connie and I worked together for the Friends of the Richardson Library at the library. Remember some book pickups we went on. Remember his coming to the library to see Connie, dinners, etc. Enjoyed my last conversation with him very well. Am glad his suffering is over.

We knew James as just Toney growing up and to the present. Jim Toney on occasion. Any time my dad said, I talked with Toney today we knew who he meant. There was only one Toney. Toney was one of the good people you meet through life. My parents became life long friends with the Toney's through their martial arts lives and beyond. Toney was a very good man. A rock! I will remember him till my time comes…….. Godspeed James B. Toney Marc Erickson

James ?JT? B Toney was a best friend and a wonderful teacher. He would always take the time to help and was one of the most knowledgeable people in the field of Cathodoluminescence (Geology). It was an honor to know him and always a pleasure to talk with him. Walter Protheroe Jr.
One of my biggest regrets is not to know GM Toney as well as so many fellow Martial Artist's, Master's , and Grandmaster's. But my biggest honor, was he made me feel as if I did, the first time I met him, which I believe was a belt testing. I think since then, no matter where it was, tournament or event, I hoped to go say hi and talk a little bit, or get a picture, before I missed him. Over several years I got to hear more stories from several that were students and/or friends, and those stories were nothing short of "Character, Strength, Honor, Heart, and History". I will miss him, I know as many others, who I also join as one of those he's ultimately inspired, to never give up! Thank you, Grandmaster Toney.
