James Rodney Waggoner's Obituary
Rodney was called home to the presence of his Lord and Savior on March 29, 2022.
Rodney was born in Longview, Texas on October 21, 1945 to Dora and Troy Waggoner as the youngest of five children. He graduated from Longview High School in 1964 and furthered his education and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. After graduation, he moved to Dallas, Texas where he raised his family.
In 1964, Rodney met the love of his life, Linda Baker. They were married on November 1, 1969 and were happily married for the past 52 years. Rodney is survived by Linda; his daughter, Stefani, her husband, Todd, and their children, Natalie and Brooke; his son, Brian, his wife, Tiffany, and their son, Elliott; his son, Brent, his wife, Sarah, and their son, Ethan; his brother, Bob Waggoner, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dora and Troy Waggoner, his sister, Betty Gammon and her husband James, his brother, Troy Waggoner, Jr., and his sister, Dorothy Flanagan.
Rodney’s working career included stints at Texas State Department of Health, Sun Production Company, Oryx Energy Company, and the FDIC, in addition to faithfully serving our country as a member of the Texas Army National Guard.
Memorial service and visitation will be held at Lake Highlands Baptist Church, 642 Brookhurst Drive, Dallas, TX 75218 on Saturday, April 30 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Autism Speaks, Inc. and American Cancer Society
Funeral arrangements for James Rodney Waggoner have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
