James A. Weidenfeller's Obituary
James (Jim) A. Weidenfeller of Richardson Texas passed away peacefully on June 24th 2010 with his family and St Paul’s Father Flori at his side. Born May 28th, 1933 in Sioux City Iowa, he is survived by Marcia, his loving wife of over 50 years, his son Scott and wife Annette (Richardson, TX), his son Bob and wife Catherine (Germantown, MD), daughter Wendy (Dickson, TN), son John (Richardson, TX) and grandchildren Kristen, James, Jack, Brooke, and coming soon ‘hey’ Jude, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim was raised in Sioux City Iowa and attended Heelan High School before entering the Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Houston and worked with several high-tech companies before retiring from Nortel after 20 years. During his career, he traveled throughout the US and beyond (including the Middle East) and in retirement continued his travels with Marcia. He was active in the St. Paul Catholic Church community through coaching various grade school athletic teams, including the always dominant Sunbeams girls’ soccer team. He remained active with St. Paul’s Catholic Church through the Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus, ushering, volunteering at the school and was a founding member of the infamous Blitz group. During retirement, Jim also spent his time reading, taking college classes, working crossword puzzles, bowling and spending time with family and friends. Jim’s Rosary will be held Sunday, June 27th at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on 720 S. Floyd Rd, Richardson Texas, at 7pm. Memorial service will be held on Monday, June 28th at 10am, also at St. Paul’s. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jim Weidenfeller St. Paul Catholic Church School Scholarship Fund, 709 James Dr Richardson Tx 75080. The family would like to thank all the caring friends in his life, especially the physician’s and staff at Methodist Richardson Hospital for their exceptional care. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
