On February 2, 1968 he married his wife of over 50 years, Barbara Ann Jackson Simmons, and instantly became Dad to her four young children. He was only 23 years old! Dad embraced his new responsibility immediately as though he had loved us all our lives and the family would not be complete until the addition of another son.

Jim is also survived by his Lake Fork family of friends whom he loved and enjoyed so much.
Jim loved God, his family, and his country. He was thankful to have served in the United States Coast Guard. He was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and be at the beach or the lake. He was respectful and expected and deserved respect. Jim was very generous, especially with his family. He loved to cook a feast on the smoker and host family gatherings. When he could no longer host, he loved to gather family and friends together and pay for a meal for all of us to enjoy. Jim just loved his family! He faithfully cared for his loving wife Barbara until her last breath. He was always a large presence in our lives, a loving protector of his family. He will be missed greatly and will live in our hearts forever.
