James Blaine Welmering Jr.'s Obituary
WELMERING, JAMES BLAINE, JR. On February 14, 2008, James Blaine Welmering, Jr., a long time resident and prominent homebuilder of the north Dallas area, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His eyes now see, his ears now hear and his heart now knows all that God had prepared for him. Blaine was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 17, 1916. It was there that he built his first home at the age of 17 and had a painting business with his cousin, Clarence. He soon gave up painting and concentrated solely on building homes. After marrying and starting a family he moved to Dallas, Texas in 1948 and continued to build fine custom homes in University Park and north Dallas for many years. Faith and family defines who he was. As a young man he worshiped at Memorial Presbyterian in St. Louis and in his later years became a member of First Baptist Carrollton in Texas where he was baptized at the age of 89. Blaine was preceded in death by his parents, James Blaine Welmering, Sr. and Alta Zoe Woodruff Welmering; his first wife, June Edwards Welmering; and his second wife, Olga Vinson Welmering. Blaine is survived by four daughters: Sonja Smith, Virginia (Ginger) Fielding, Martha Reid, and Linda Rolfe; one stepson, Douglas Vinson; fifteen grandchildren: Suzy Perkins, Christine Strickland, Sandi Stanley, Katie Tooker, Jim Williams, Dan Graham, Dina Hiss, Christopher Reid, Dianna Reid, David Rolfe, Jonathan Rolfe, Joseph Rolfe, Thomas Rolfe, Douglas Scott Vinson, and Christianna Smelser; sixteen great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, February 18, 2008 at Restland Abbey Chapel with Dr. Brent Taylor officiating. The interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park.
