Though we had only a short time to get to know Jim, those moments left a lasting impression on us. We loved hearing stories of his many adventures and the incredible experiences he had throughout his life. He was truly inspiring in so many ways. We deeply enjoyed getting to know both him and Judy, individually and as a couple, and were touched by how thoughtful and generous they were in welcoming us into their home. Jims passion for aviation was evident and something Dereck especially connected with. Those two talked for hours about flying and Jims face was ear to ear smiles talking about it. It was clear how much he loved it. He was truly inspiring for Dereck to keep pushing through this passion too. Jim really inspired him and their conversations were deeply meaningful and memorable. Jim was warm, engaging, and clearly so loved. We extend our deepest condolences to Judy and to all who are mourning his loss. Sending many prayers!
Literally every time we greeted each other, it was with big hugs and big smiles. I would yell out, “Mr. Jim!!” He always wanted to do everything he could to help the gym. He would take the mop away from me any time he saw me with the mop in my hand and say, “Coach, that’s not for you. That’s for us white belts”
Such wonderful memories of conversations that could go all night. “Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy”. All the hours studying for our flight exams together and how we’d ace those exams. Remembering you saved my life on that flight back from Key West. I would have been on the bottom of the Gulf had you not sent our planes back east to home. I’ll never forget your warm gentle laugh. Big big hugs my handsome friend. I’m happy to have another angel looking over me. Love you brother forever.
So sorry to here about Jim’s passing May he rest in peace. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale and Jim lived across the street form me. I had just reconnected with him in 2019. I remember seeing the Moon landing on TV with him. We went to the 12 hours of Sebring, the Atlanta Pop Festival, and concert at pirates world together. I had hoped to see and talked to him again.
Mr. Jim was one of the best teammates I’ve ever had. The definition of selfless. Showed up every day with a smile and ready to scrap.
