Mrs. Jan Marricle's Obituary
Janice Beaty Marricle passed away on November 18 in Cascade, IA, due to complications from a stroke. Janice was born on November 2, 1939, in Shreveport, LA; she was adopted as an infant by Clarence and Charlotte Beaty. Janice graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas, TX. As a teenager she won many cutting horse competitions on her quarter horse, Prissy Baby. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Texas Christian University where she served as Activities Council Chairman from 1960 -61. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Janice graduated from Business School and was employed by General Electric where she was a parts expediter and later an Executive Secretary. Janice met Richard Marricle on a blind date during the summer of 1961 in Spur, Texas. They married September 15th, 1962, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Jan and Richard made their first home in Dallas, TX. Between 1964 and 1981, they relocated seven times because of Richard’s career with J.C. Penney. Jan was an Independent Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics for over 20 years. During that time, she won five cars and many other awards, along with helping a number of other women realize their dreams. Jan was a voracious reader; she particularly enjoyed mysteries. She was also an artist who painted in oils and acrylics as well as being a “crafter”. She also loved to needlepoint. Jan and Richard have two daughters: Kristine (Dean) Pfab and Karen (Robert) Bruce. Kris and her family live in Bernard, IA, and Karen and her family live in McKinney, TX. There are four grandchildren: Matthew and Michael Pfab and Elizabeth and Emily Bruce. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The National Stroke Association, 9707 E. Easter Lane, Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112, Hospice of Dubuque, 1670 JFK Road, Dubuque, IA 52002, or a charity of your choice. Our gratitude goes out to the very special people at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, IA, and at Unity Point Health Finley Hospital in Dubuque, IA, who cared for Jan during the past several months. A memorial service will be held on December 3, 2014 at 12:30pm at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Services for Jan Marricle have been entrusted into the care of Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
