Jane Vivian Bartelme's Obituary
BARTELME, JANE VIVIAN LUNDEEN passed away in Garland, TX, on January 5, 2014. Jane was born in Superior, WI, on Feb. 26, 1919. She lived in Garland since 2006, after moving from Metairie, LA. She spent 35 years in the New Orleans area, actually survived Hurricane Katrina, was evacuated to San Antonio and eventually to Dallas. Before her husband, Ed Bartelme, also from Superior, was transferred to New Orleans in 1971, she had lived in the Dallas area for over 25 years. Her husband was in the construction industry and they moved to several cities during their early years of marriage. Jane was a dental assistant in Superior before getting married. In New Orleans she worked in a hospital gift shop. She was an active member of De La Salle Council Ladies Auxiliary while in New Orleans. Jane was an avid bowler for many years and bowled in many leagues and state and national tournaments. She bowled and danced until her fall and broken hip in New Orleans in 2006. She lived independently and was active until her last fall on December 29, 2013. She never recovered from this accident. She is survived by her son Ed Bartelme Jr., and his wife Kathi of Mesquite, TX; four grandsons, Brandon of Springfield, MO, Lee of Hyrum, UT, Chris and Stephen of Mesquite, TX; and five great grandchildren; and her sister, Lois, of Superior. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Jenny Bachman Lundeen, husband Ed, Sr., and her brother Lawrence Lundeen. A Celebration of Life for Jane will take place at 12:00 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Restland Abbey Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the ASPCA or the First United Methodist Church of Mesquite, 300 North Galloway Mesquite, Texas 75149, 972-285-5456.
