Jane Folkes' Obituary
Adelle Jane Folkes, 78, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born June 1, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to Hilton and Elois Folkes, Jane was in the middle of three sisters. Her sisters Emily remembers waking up to her laughter as she watched "I Love Lucy."
Jane graduated from Bryan Adams High School before earning a degree in Education from Dallas Baptist University. She went on to earn certification in special education and superintendency, and built a distinguished career as a diagnostician and school administrator. She taught in Dallas ISD and evaluated academic skills and disabilities with the Department of Defense in The Bahamas, Newfoundland, England, and Cuba. She was the director of special education in Kaufman, Texas, before retiring from the same role at Waco ISD.
Jane is survived by her two sisters, Cindy Sperry and Emily Heslop and husband Ron, all of Dallas; three nieces, Blu Guerrier of Glens Falls, New York, Melissa Sperry of Dallas, and Liza Moore and husband William of Round Rock, Texas; and two nephews, Josh Sperry of Sonoma, California, and Grant McManus and wife Karen of Dallas. She is also survived by one really great-nephew, 4-year-old Shepard Stillman Moore, of Round Rock, Texas.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243. The family welcomes all who wish to attend.
