Jane Appling Sigler's Obituary
Jane (“Nonnie”) Appling Sigler of Plano, Texas passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Born on America’s birthday in 1936, Jane blessed this world with her vibrant spirit and loving personality. Her selfless approach to life put others first as she touched the lives of those that she encountered with her special gifts of compassion, wisdom, and courage. Over the years, Nonnie became the matriarch figure to many as they respected her ability to face life with grace, grit and empathy. She truly embodied the essence of a Steel-Magnolia consistently exemplifying both traditional femininity and uncommon fortitude. Jane’s greatest joy in life was her three grandkids who she referred to as ‘the brightest lights of her life’. Nothing made her prouder and happier than sharing her family with the world. Perhaps her greatest thrill in life was learning that she was to become a great-grandmother to twins. In passing, Jane will now become the guiding angel to all her loved ones.
We will all miss the Southern Bell from Seagoville that could “two step” with the best, loved her Cowboys and Mavericks, never met a stranger, always a gracious host, enjoyed dinners at Tupinamba, shopped like no other, the queen of phone conversations and was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Richardson for over 50 years.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents Iola and Harry Appling , her brother Harry Jr., daughter Teri Sigler Curry and son Michael Sigler. She is survived by her loving husband Jimmie of 65 years, devoted daughter Mary and son-in-law Brendan McCracken, grandchildren Connor McCracken and husband Chris Longo, Shea McCracken and Will McCracken; plus, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and her close knit friends that she considered her family as well. The family is planning a private memorial at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery. A Celebration of Life event is being planned for later in the year. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Methodist Children's Home in Waco, Texas (www.mch.org) in memory of Jane Sigler would be welcomed.
