Jane Thompson's Obituary
Martha “Jane” Thompson was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on June 29, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on September 14, 1941 in Carthage, Texas to Ezra and Bonnie Donald. She lived in East Texas until her family moved to Dallas in 1951. She graduated as a member of the second graduating class from Thomas Jefferson High School. She then attended and graduated with an education degree from East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas, where she would meet her future husband and love of her life, Larry Thompson. They married in 1963 and built a life in Dallas. Jane was a school teacher at Edward Titche Elementary for 8 years with the Dallas Independent School District until she had her son, Matthew in 1971. From that day, she devoted her time to being a full time homemaker and raising her son. Once he went off to college, Jane rejoined the workforce. First, working for Aetna Insurance and then she decided to develop a new skill and learned Braille. She connected with a local company that made signs and other communication pieces for blind prisoners. Outside of spending time with her family and working, she loved the Lord by being a devoted member of First Baptist Dallas since 1951, and she also enjoyed collecting stamps. Larry and Matthew would bring her limited edition or featured stamps from the post office and she would even cut stamps from envelopes she received! She was an extremely giving and thoughtful person and never hesitated to share her time and resources with family, friends or complete strangers.
Jane is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Larry; her son, Matthew and his wife, Jessika; grandchildren, Drew and Daisy Thompson; her oldest brother, James Donald and sister-in-law, Shirley Donald. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jack Donald and Allen Donald, and sisters-in-law, Carol Donald and Geneva Donald; She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
