Janelle Ellis Gilstrap's Obituary
Janelle Ellis Gilstrap of Dallas went to be with her Lord on May 18, 2010, after a long illness. She lived in the Dallas area for the past 41 years and was an active member at Lakeside Baptist Church. Mrs. Gilstrap was born on May 23, 1925 to Leonard B. and Bertha Hull Ellis, in Jewett, TX. She grew up in Bryan, TX where she met and married Jack M. Gilstrap, on February 14, 1942. She loved to crochet and teach others the art, along with working puzzles, playing games, and baking. Her crocheted gifts are cherished by many. Mrs. Gilstrap is survived by her sister, Exa Ellis Veach of Bryan, TX, daughter and son-in-law Kay and Randy Hall of Little Rock, AR, son and daughter-in-law Jack Jr. and Lana Gilstrap of Allen, TX, daughter and son-in-law Janice and Jerry Wallace of Marshall, TX, granddaughters Tammye Hall, Katy Gilstrap Lane and Suzanne Wallace, and grandsons Russell Hall and Jake Wallace. She is also survived by three great grandsons, two great granddaughters, and several nieces. Mrs. Gilstrap was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jack Gilstrap, Sr., her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Gus and Ruth Ellis and L.B. “Pete” and Betty Ellis. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30pm on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Restland Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Restland Cemetery, Dallas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, American Cancer Society, Lakeside Baptist Church, or the Susan B. Komen Foundation. Pallbearers for Mrs. Gilstrap are Keith Lane, Randy Hall, Jerry Wallace, Russell Hall, and Jake Wallace.
