Janelle Witcher Hart's Obituary
Hart, Janelle Witcher, 89, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2014. Born in Windom, TX, she is preceded in death by her parents, M. L. and Rina Witcher; brothers, Maxie, Jr. “Giggie”, and Joe Don; and loving husband of 64 years, Wren Harold Hart. Janelle graduated from Honey Grove High School and Paris Junior College. Continuing her education at East Texas State University, now Texas A&M-Commerce, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. She was a member of Marpessa and Chi Omega Fraternity. Early years, Janelle taught high school at Cleveland, TX, and later became Home Economist for Farmers Home Administration for Hunt and Delta Counties. After marriage and living in Cooper, TX for 5 years, she and Harold moved to Weatherford in 1952. Janelle was very active in her community for over 50 years. She was a member of the Weatherford Garden Club, City Council, Lady Lions Club, and worked as a volunteer for county and state 4H Clubs. She received a Life Membership award for service from the Parent-Teacher Association, and worked in Girl Scouts for many years. A long-time member of Weatherford Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, she was General Chairwoman of the chapter’s 100th celebration in 2003. A devoted member of the Grace First Presbyterian Church since 1952, she served as a Deacon and Elder. Of strong faith and always active in Presbyterian Women, she received a Life Membership honor. Survived by one brother, Kenneth Witcher of Honey Grove; two daughters, Melissa Patterson of Weatherford; and Wrenda Rix and husband, Chris, of Lewisville; grandsons, Taylor Rix of Lewisville and Jordan Patterson and wife, Katie, of Portland; and one great-grandchild. Janelle’s family was very important to her and she will be dearly missed. A private family burial service will be held at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, TX. Those wishing to honor Janelle’s life in some way; the family requests memorials to Grace First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 606 Mockingbird Lane, Weatherford, TX 76086.
