Janet ILene Grossie's Obituary
Janet Ilene Hillyard was born August 7, 1941 to parents Joan and James Hillyard of Houston, Texas. She had neither brothers nor sisters. After a long struggle with childhood illnesses, Janet graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and enrolled at Sam Houston University in Huntsville, Texas. While attending Sam Houston University, Janet joined the DELTA ZETA sorority. She graduated from Sam Houston in 1963 with a BBA degree. She worked as a hotel manager and many years for a Texas Oil and Gas company.
She met Jerome (Jerry) Grossie at a party and a year later they married on December 20, 1975. The newlyweds moved to Bitburg, West Germany where Jerry was employed as a technical representative for E-Systems, Inc. of Greenville, Tx. The couple returned to Greenville in late 1977 and settled in Rowlett where Janet was involved in local church activities. In spite of her seemingly outspoken and rough talk, she was a very kind-hearted lady.
She was called to her final home with her Lord and Savior in the afternoon of July 2, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Jeny, of over 46 years; the couple was not blessed with children, but is further survived by many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, Janet would prefer a donation in her name to St.Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Shriner's Crippled Children's or Burns hospital through Hella Temple or to the donor's favorite charity.
She will be laid to rest at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Tx.
