Janet Marie Howard's Obituary
Janet Marie Howard, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and loyal friend, passed away
peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2022. She was born September 13, 1958. Growing up in Dallas
and graduating from Bryan Adams High School in 1976, she attended The University of Texas
at Austin, with degrees in Advertising and French. She also attended The Sorbonne in Paris,
France her junior year.
Upon graduation, she spent six months in Paris, then moved to New York City to use her
degree and languages of which she spoke five. Janet spent many years working at Liz
Claiborne Cosmetics as National Director of Promotions and Public Relations. Later she would
work as the chief operations officer of an investment firm.
Janet loved working with various philanthropies and foundations. She also enjoyed working as a volunteer at the International Center helping newcomers to The United States improve their conversational English. Her passion was being involved with Pet Therapy, and taking her adored puppy dog, Gigi, to visit patients in the Children’s Hospital. She loved living in New York City, enjoying the many art galleries, museums, Broadway shows, concerts, and fine restaurants the city offered.
Janet enjoyed snow skiing, following professional tennis, traveling all over the world, cooking
and being with friends and family. We will miss her special heart, her beautiful smile, sense of
style, and witty and fun side!
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. G.B. Howard III and Joan Ann Howard, and cousin Madison Lee Miller, grandparents William N. and Ila Mae Wells, and G.B. Howard Jr. and Lola DuBose Howard. She is survived by her sisters Jayne Howard Brown (David), and Joanna Howard, and brother, Bill {G.B. IV} Howard (Claire); nieces and nephews, Joanie Brown, Jana Brown (Jonathan Stanley), Burns Brown (Sarah), Blaire Howard Breaux (Ryan), and Buc {G.B.V} Howard; also, great nieces Sadie Renae Stanley, and Eleanor {Nora} Claire Breaux. Also her aunt, Billie Jean Daniel; cousins Gil Daniel, Jana Miller, Matt Daniel (Mary), their children and grandchildren, and dear friend Gary Fox.
Burial is Saturday, August 6, 2022 10:00 a.m. at Restland Cemetery. Memorial service is Saturday, August 6, 2022, 11:30 a.m. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 6550 Samuel Boulevard in Dallas Texas with reception to follow at the church. The service will also be live streamed at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, on YouTube.
