Janette Margaret Sojka's Obituary
Janette M. Sojka (née Jankowski) of McKinney, TX, passed away peacefully at Faith Presbyterian Hospice on July 13th in Dallas, TX at the age of 68.
Janette is survived by her Mother, Beverly Jankowski of Albuquerque, NM; Husband of nearly 48 years Bruno Sojka of McKinney, TX , Son, Jason Sojka (Susan Lynette) of McKinney, TX. Grandchildren, Sutton, Marlowe, and Dax Sojka of McKinney, TX. Sister in Law, Irene Hendricks of Omaha, NE. She is preceded in death by Father, Karol Jankowski of Albuquerque, NM, and Brother and Sister in Law, Bob and Joyce Sojka of Omaha, NE.
Janette was born on November 24, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI. She married Bruno Sojka in 1972. After moving to Omaha, NE she began her career in the Athletic Department at Creighton University and gave birth to her only son, Jason. Bruno’s job took the family to Lincoln, NE where Janette would spend 25 years working in the University of Nebraska Athletic Department, for and with people she dearly loved. After spending over 25 years in Lincoln, NE, the couple moved back to Omaha and she completed her 30-year career with the University of Nebraska system. Upon retirement Janette and Bruno moved to Urbandale, IA where they spent the next 3 years with their family. In 2013, they followed their grandkids and relocated to McKinney, TX. It is there Janette fully enjoyed her retirement spending time with her family, attending area sporting and social events or those of her grandchildren, shopping, traveling, making friends at the “burger bar,” and winning many jackpots in the casino.
A Rosary service is scheduled for Friday August 7th at 7:00pm at St. Thomas More Church, Omaha, NE with Funeral Mass on Saturday August 8th at 10:30am at St. Thomas More Church, Omaha, NE and reception to follow.
