Janice, spent many years teaching art classes at Highland Park UMC. Over those years, we got to know Janice and her warm personality, her witty sense of humor and a smile that would lift any one's spirit.
Janice was an accomplished artist and did wonderful plein air paintings. Janice had a devoted crew of artists that met at her house during Covid and afterward. This group of people made a difference and something she really looked forward to.

Janice always remembered holidays with the sweetest and prettiest cards.

Janice and her sweet spirit will be missed.
So glad she entered our lives and the doors of HPUMC.

Janice painted portraits of my brother Neil and I many years ago. A fabulous gift to us. What a kind and thoughtful person Janice was. She and my Mom, Sandra Craig were besties for decades and decades. A truly beautiful woman inside and out.

I joined Janice's painting class in 1995. The month I joined Janice was out, but the class was meeting anyway. Once Janice returned I introduced myself and told her everything I learned the previous month. She swore up and down it took over 6 months to correct everything the other students "taught" me. I'm pretty sure she implemented a new rule after me. "No new students CANNOT join the club while Janice is away. Take the new student's information and tell them to come the following month."

Janice and art class quickly became one of my "safe places." It was one of those places where the tension left my shoulders when I walked in the door. A place where I could go for snacks, laughter, and lively conversations with like minded people. I will miss laughing with Janice. She expanded my world in a way I didn't know I needed. Such an amazing artist, teacher and friend. Heaven got a good one this time.

I first met Janice when she was in a painting class with my father Carl Yantis. They painted together for several years and my father learned a great deal from her. She so kindly offered to paint a sailboat for me in the early 70's. I still have it hanging in my bedroom, and think of her every time I look at it. She was a great artist and the most generous person you could ever meet. I know everyone who knew her will miss her terribly.
