Janice Eilleene Sewell's Obituary
Janice Eilleene Sapp was born July 5, 1929 to Ruldolph A. Sapp and Lucille E. Winger in Dexter, Texas. She passed away December 24, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones. Janice spent her youth in Dexter, graduating from Gainesville High School in 1946. When she was 12 she met the love of her life, Leroy Sewell. She knew from that day he would be the man she would marry. They were married July 19, 1947. Their first son, Eric Wayne, was born November 6, 1949 in Gainesville, Texas. Their second son, Ira Neal, was born October 23, 1953 after they moved to Dallas. Janice, Leroy and their sons settled in the Lake Highlands area where they lived out the rest of their years. Janice was a homemaker and did part-time bookkeeping in her home. Her greatest loves were Christ, her family and country. Being born near the nation’s birthday, she was a “real firecracker.” Janice and Leroy traveled extensively through Europe, the Holy Land and the United States. They especially enjoyed Hawaii, so much so that her granddaughters called her “Tutu” which means “Grandmother” in Hawaiian. Janice loved dressing up for every occasion and always had matching accessories. Her family teased her that she must been Stein Mart’s favorite customer. Janice passed away from multiple myeloma at Vitas Hospice in Carrollton, Texas. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Leroy Sewell (her loving husband of 52 years), sister Lorraine Wilson and brother Bobby Sapp. She is survived by sons Wayne Sewell, Ira Sewell and wife Carol; granddaughters Sally Lyndley, Penny Lane, Brittany Dover and husband Justin; great-grandson, Diesel Dover; sister, Barbara Kersey; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Centerville Road Church of Christ, especially Doug and Bobbi Guinn and Joyce and Buck Underwood for all the loving care and support of both our parents over the years. Also, we would like to thank Vitas Hospice, especially Dr. Cox and nurse Michelle, who showed such kindness and compassion toward our mom during her final days. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held Monday, December 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Centerville Road Church of Christ. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
