Janie Belle Gaines Eubanks' Obituary
Born August 14, 1924 in Texarkana, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Collins and Martha Gaines, pioneer settlers in Texarkana and descendants of early colonial families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Roy J. Eubanks, a Dallas oral surgeon. Janie is survived by sons, William G. Eubanks and wife, Denise Doyle, Robert E. Eubanks and wife Ann, Bruce J. Eubanks and wife, Connie Eubanks; grandchildren, Michael Eubanks, Sara Jane Paton, Beth Ann Eubanks, Jack Eubanks, Hal Eubanks, Hallie Eubanks and Jessica Eubanks; great grandchildren, Nolan Eubanks, Emmeline Eubanks and Carlyle Eubanks. She attended Lindenwood College, University of Arkansas and graduated from University of Texas at Arlington. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and Alpha Chi and Phi Alpha Theta honor societies. After the death of Dr. Eubanks, she taught school in the Dallas Independent School District for 20 years, fourteen of which were at Thomas J. Rusk Middle School. She retired in 1990. A lifelong Episcopalian and member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, she was a member of the Junior League for fifty plus years. She was also a member of East Kessler Book Review Club and a volunteer worker at St. Luke’s Plaid Door. In her earlier years, she was active in PTA, Cub Scouts and promoting age group swimming and hospital volunteer work. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Dallas, TX.
