Janie L. Haney's Obituary
Janie Lee Williams Haney passed away on November 28, 2020, at the age of 86 in Carrollton, Texas, following a hard fought battle with Covid-19. She was preceded in death by her precious mother Margarette Owens Williams, her only child Lawrence Richard (Rick) Deere, and her beloved husband of fifty years Harold Glen Haney. She is survived by her nephew Christopher Harrell (Chris) Campbell, wife Brenda and family of Venus, Texas, her niece Janie Melisa (Lesa) Campbell of Mesquite, Texas, and Alice (Pee Wee) Brantley and family of La Mesa, Texas.
Janie was born an only child in Dallas, Texas, on July 21, 1934. In her youth she lived in West Texas a few years returning to the Dallas area in the early 1960's where she met the love of her life, Glen. They were married on February 7th, 1962 and had celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary just a few short months before his death (on his birthday), June 14, 2012. She was a hard worker and would tell you,"I waited tables all my life". She loved crafts and was very talented once owning her own business in a local crafts mall. As the orator she naturally was, she would weave her tales and shared many, many stories of her life; each one of them filled with adventures, humor and thrills. She was a loving mother and wife and the kind of friend and neighbor everyone should be fortunate enough to have. From the rush of joy and laughter there was no mistaking that Janie Haney had arrived everytime she entered a room. As the scripture says, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord"; and that she did with grace. She was stunningly beautiful inside and out.
Janie spent a lot of her life traveling and going to different places with Glen. She had a suitcase and travel bag packed at all times ready to go when the mood struck "to do some gambling". She loved to go to the "Casinas" as she called them and she was quite lucky when she did hit the Casinos. She was a true fan of Elvis Presley collecting over the years memories of live performances and vast memorabilia. A true dog lover, she and Glen raised beautiful Yorkies for decades with her heart in the end belonging to her beloved little boy, Watney. For years Janie was an avid collector of miniature perfume bottles having a remarkable collection of well over 1000 beautifully displayed throughout her home. But, alas, her truest love of all, besides her Glen, was her love for clothes. With her closets and rooms full of gorgeous clothes, shoes and the wigs she adored Janie was a true fashionista in style. She loved to dress up and go out.
Janie loved to be around people and people loved being around her. She was a character on the stage of life that will not soon, if ever, be replaced or forgotten. Janie was, is and will forever be a lovely soul who is deeply missed.
