Jason Donald Huffman's Obituary
Jason Donald Huffman Jason was born Sunday, May 2, 1971 in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in Richardson graduating from Berkner High School and then attending Stephen F. Austin State University and Texas A&M Commerce with degrees in elementary education. Jason worked as a teacher in the Richardson and McKinney school districts before becoming an administrator for the Little Elm School District. Jason dearly loved his career in education. He also loved his family, funny movies, WWII history, the Dallas Cowboys and video games. Jason had a wonderful sense of humor, beautiful blue eyes and an incredible smile. On April 7, 2010, surrounded by his loving family, Jason lost his valiant battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He fought bravely – he fought for his family – more concerned about the effect his illness had on those around him rather than the effect it had on him. Jason is survived by those he devoted his life to – his best friend and wife, Tracey, children “Big” Jack and “Baby Girl” Caroline, parents Jack and Donna Huffman and sister Dana Huffman. Also surviving are Tracey’s family, John and Jeannie Ovard, Mike and Shirley Castaneda, Kirsten and Sara Castaneda, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. We have lost a kind, selfless, loving man who never met a stranger. The family thanks Dr. Robert Collins and the team at Zale Lipshy Hospital for their expert medical care and the ICU doctors and nurses at St. Paul Hospital for the tireless efforts they made on April 7th to care for Jason. The family also thanks Jason’s extended family at the Little Elm School District for their love and support of Jason and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Little Elm ISD Jason Huffman Memorial Fund 500 Lobo Lane, Little Elm, TX 75068 or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202. A memorial to celebrate Jason’s life will be held on Sunday, April 11th at 3:00 p.m. held at First United Methodist Church, Richardson, 513, N. Central Expressway.
