Jay Lee Schenkel's Obituary
Jay Lee Schenkel II passed away on January 5, 2017 in his hometown, Mesquite, Texas at the age of 25. Jay is preceded in death by grandparents: Jack Thompson, Rudy & Marie Schenkel, and Henry & Jean Diamond, as well as his Uncle Sonny Schenkel. Jay is survived by his wife, Analicia Marie Schenkel; his children, daughter, Evelyn Jade Schenkel, and beloved dog, King Lucifer Schenkel; his parents Jay and Lesa Schenkel & William and Gregoria Bacus; grandparents, Mary Sue Thompson & Bill and Sally Bacus; his siblings, Heather and Justin McClung & Ellysa Bacus; niece and nephew, McKenzie Grace and Nathan McClung; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and family. Jay was born in Mesquite, Texas to Jay and Lesa Schenkel on July 5, 1991. He graduated Mesquite High in 2009. On March 15, 2012 Jay married his high school sweetheart, Analicia Schenkel, in Mesquite Texas. On July 20, 2013 they had his beautiful “baby girl” in North Carolina, Evelyn Jade Schenkel. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician & an Automotive Maintenance Technician from July 2009 for seven years. He was awarded two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, three Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, numerous letters of Appreciation, a Meritorious Mast award, the Expert Rifle Qualification Badge, the Expert Pistol Qualification Badge, and the coveted Department of Defense Joint Explosive Ordinance Disposal Insignia. He enjoyed his time with his family, working out at the gym, and of course anything with wheels, engines, & speed. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held from 2:30 – 3:30 pm on Friday, January 13, 2017 in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Reception is to follow immediately after Funeral Service, to come and go, until 5:30 pm. Burial with military honors will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements were made with Restland Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Semper Fi Fund in the name of Jay Lee Schenkel II. The wife and family of Jay Lee Schenkel II wish to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
