Jean Lamar Duller's Obituary
Duller, Jean Lamar Passed to eternal life because of his salvation in Jesus Christ on June 5. He was born in Houston, TX, March 7, 1925, the second son of Nelson and Sue Duller. After high school graduation, he attended one semester at Texas A&M University before being drafted into the Army. He served in the Pacific Theater of World War II in the invasion of the Philippines and the occupation of Japan. In 1945, he returned to his beloved Texas A&M and graduated with a degree in Architectural Construction. He worked briefly for Mosher Steel Company before being called back to active duty as a commissioned officer in the 432nd Construction Battalion during the Korean War. He married his wife, Bernice Wiechering, in 1952 and made their home in Houston. Hired in 1952 as an engineering draftsman by Humble Oil, his career spanned many positions until his retirement in 1983 from Exxon Corporation in Dallas, TX, as Western Region Engineering Manager, encompassing company-wide design and construction projects. He loved the Lord and his church. He was a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church for 34 years and served multiple terms as Deacon and Elder. In 2005, he and his wife became charter members of New St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church where he continued to be active. He served as a volunteer at the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children for over 15 years. He loved his family and is survived by his wife of 59 years and 2 daughters, Suzanne Hatch and Jeannette Henderson, husband Jeff. He loved his 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Duus, husband Hank, Jennifer Hatch, Adam Henderson, Nick Henderson, Alex Henderson and great granddaughter Madeline Duus. He is survived by his brother Dr. Nelson Duller and nephew David Duller. One of the special joys of his life was being an Aggie and he supported all things “Aggie,” especially football at Kyle Field. His giving spirit blessed him with family and friends whom he cherished and who will deeply miss him. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held 10:00am, Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Restland Memorial Chapel.
