Jean Glover Johnson's Obituary
Jean Glover Johnson was a force of nature. She passed away on December 23, 2017. Jean was married to Joe Lindale Johnson for 35 years, and has returned to the safety of his waiting arms. Jean and Joe built a loving Christian home for their children and when needed, opened their home to nieces, nephews, cousins and orphans. In the 1980s, they assisted with the relocation of a family with seven children from a Russian satellite country. Later in her life, Jean became a world traveler. Her favorite destination was Israel where she enjoyed visiting ancient Biblical sites. Jean not only adored her faith, but her family as well. She was one of six siblings, and had a large and sometimes unruly network of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean’s generosity was extraordinary. When her family and friends faced hardship, she was the first to help in any way she could. Jean was born in Grand Prairie, Texas where she spent her formative years hurling chinaberries at her twin sister, Joan. Later, she graduated from Sunset High School in Oak Cliff and then attended Texas Tech University and The University of Texas at Arlington, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. In addition to the time she spent with her family, Jean found time to be a leader and a businesswoman. Jean owned several insurance-related companies, ultimately becoming a widely respected as a Special Deputy Receiver and an expert on HMOs for the Texas Department of Insurance. Jean was admired for her strength, decisiveness and persistence. She is survived by her three sisters, Judy, Sharon and Toni; her sons CT and Marcus; and her 7 grandchildren, Katherine, Daniel, Scout, Mac, Joe, Jake, and Michael. There will be a memorial service and funeral for Jean at Restland Memorial at 2:30 pm on December 27, 2017.
